Desterra é um exercício de arqueologia acerca da matéria geológica e biológica.
Os artefactos da natureza são a sua história, são a memória da Terra, o passado do ser humano, o conto do indivíduo.
O Grand Canyon é esculpido com a erosão provocada pelo rio Colorado, que revela simultaneamente as eras geológicas do Paleozóico e do Proterozóico. Aqui perto, a serra de Valongo foi modelada pelo mar há 400 milhões de anos atrás. Hoje, os eucaliptos recém- plantados dominam o espaço povoado pelas rochas sedimentares e pelos fósseis de diversos organismos uni/multicelulares.
A fotografia é um meio que resulta da fixação da luz e da sua ausência, e da revelação das distâncias das coisas. Quando analógica, a imagem fotográfica aparece após banhos sucessivos em químicos que, em poucos segundos, indiciam o que aconteceu no momento de exposição do filme. Tentemos entender a superfície do nosso planeta como um plano fotossensível com tempos de exposição de milhares de milhões de anos.
A ideia de fotografia continua nos trabalhos em tecidos de algodão que foram submersos em compostos de seiva e minerais elaborados para formar manchas abstratas que são simultaneamente fósseis e pinturas de plantas.
Desterra é uma reflexão acerca da perda de um todo, uma análise de fragmentos de um corpo maior processado aos olhos do presente.
A exposição é comissariada por Rita Roque, curadora do projeto de exposição Lèche-Vitrine para Prudêncio Studio.

Desterra is an archaeology exercise on geological and biological matter.
The artefacts of nature are their history; they are the memory of the Earth, the past of the human being, the tale of the individual.
The Grand Canyon is carved with erosion provoked by the Colorado River, which simultaneously reveals the geological ages of the Palaeozoic and Proterozoic. Nearby, the sea modelled the Valongo mountain range 400 million years ago. Today, newly planted eucalyptus trees dominate the space populated by sedimentary rocks and fossils of various uni/multicellular organisms.
Photography is a medium that results from the fixation of light and its absence, and from the revelation of the distances of things. When analogue, the photographic image appears after successive baths in chemicals that, in a few seconds, indicate what happened at the time of exposure of the film. Lets try to understand the surface of our planet as a photosensitive plane with exposure times of billions of years.
The idea of photography continues in the works on cotton fabrics that have been submerged in sap compounds and minerals designed to form abstract stains that are both fossils and plant paintings.
Desterra is a reflection on the loss of a whole, an analysis of fragments of a bigger body processed in the eyes of the present.
The exhibition is commissioned by Rita Roque, curator of the exhibition project Lèche-Vitrine for Prudêncio Studio.
